Welcome to Blue Sage Acres Ranch. Our family has been in the cattle business for 4 generations and the passion for breeding Top Cut cattle has been passed down. Our philosophy is a little different than most Angus breeders these days. We believe the commercial cowman is the bread and butter to our programs success and appreciate the many freindships we have developed in the cattle business. Our motto has always been to meet our customers needs whether that is by matching a customer with the right bull, or providing the proper follow up to make sure they are satisfied with their purchase. We take immense pride in in raising cattle that can stand up in the harsh conditions that many of our western customers run their cows in. We have built our genetic base around functional rugged cattle that have more body, bone, and foot strength. You will notice that the cattle we market have a unique look that may not be traditional in the Angus Breed. Our cowherd has been rigorously culled over the last 15 years and if they have not been able to produce a viable calf better than themselves they take the infamous ride to town!
We have enjoyed the successes we have had on the show road from raising the 2005 Red Bluff Champion Angus bull to 2007 Sr Champion sale bull at the National Western Stock Show, but we have not used the traditional show sires nor chased the numbers game. You'll find our cattle to have above average numbers, good dispositions, tremendous maternal backing, and a unique and powerful look. We take performance very seriously and all of our cattle have been tested for their individual performance and carcass quality.
You may want to take note that our herd bull battery could be considered by many to be as powerful as any in the country. We have put many miles on our vehicles to search for those special bulls that possess a combination of moderate calving ease with extra stoutness and muscularity. JSAR Design Doctor 280BFl has had the word "Producer" written all over him since we originally purchased him from Jones Stewart Angus Ranch in Nebraska. He was backed by 2 generations of pathfinder Dams and was the top gaining and best looking bull in their test. It is impossible to overlook the success his progeny have had across the country. "General" (see sires page) could be the most exciting bull we have ever owned as he is royally bred for maternal strength and efficiency combined with tremendous outcross carcass data. Please dont forget Bush's Grand Slam-as Scott Bush said before I purchased him-he is the thickest bull to sale in the Angus breed this year. He is truly impressive to look at!
